Modern kitchen renovation completed in Cambridge
This modern kitchen and dining room renovation was a very challenging renovation project. Slotegraaf Construction worked closely with the owners, sub-trades and cabinet supplier to design and build a contemporary kitchen and dining room that not only met the cooking needs of a large family that entertains often but also the heritage characteristics of this designated home.
The special demands of this project involved working on the second floor of the house, building while the family was occupying the home and working within heritage restrictions. The two new openings that were cut into the 24" thick stone wall had to match the existing adjacent stone openings built in 1886.
The planning process was meticulous and involving detailed discussions with Heritage Cambridge representatives, stone masons, flooring suppliers, metal fabricators and cabinet makers. Slotegraaf Construction assisted the homeowners in sourcing appropriate local materials and craftspeople, custom fabricated cabinet hardware, and hard-to-find materials and equipment to suit the project.
The owners, two architects, are delighted with the results and are thrilled with every aspect of the project, from an aesthetic and a functional standpoint. They have already begun discussing their next project with this same team.
